So my first scan since I started my treatments is on the 18th September at 8.45am. I see Kenny Elder, my new consultant at 10.30 on the same day.
I’m nervous in a sense, because my first consultant said that even if the area of DCIS is smaller, it may not show on the scan as it will still be fibrous tissue. But according to the women in my DCIS group, who are monitoring theirs the same way, we should be able to see from the scan.
It’s only a guess, but an educated one, that my lump is over a cm smaller than it was before I started my treatments.
You might remember I bought a caliper to measure it, but it’s a tricky thing to measure. Every measurement is different so I just take the widest one I get. When I bought the caliper, the width was 57.2mm and now it’s measuring 48mm. Not an exact science, but there is no denying the lump is smaller now than it was. So my treatment is definitely working! 🩷
I started drinking soursop tea this week. It’s been on my radar since the beginning, and I’ve decided to bring it in. The soursop fruit is native to the Caribbean, and its leaves are highly anti-carcinogenic. I had a donation last week so I was able to buy some. I was dreading it tasting horrible, but it’s actually lovely, really citrusy.
The next ammunition I’m adding to my arsenal is going to be Essiac tea 🫖
