For those of you who know me, you will know how incredibly close I am to my dogs.
I’ve had a traumatic couple of days.

I was down in Moffat visiting my new Great Niece, Remy last week, and on Friday I could tell that Baby was having sharp pains in her head. She was wincing and wasn’t herself. I gave her painkillers hoping it would pass, but it didn’t, and on Saturday morning I put her harness on to go for a walk and she took me to where the car was parked and stood next to the door. She was telling me she needed to go home.
I called the out of hours service at my vets and headed back to Edinburgh.
The vet found blood deep in her ear canal. They said she needed to have a general anaesthetic so they could look properly. They told me to go home but I stayed. Baby fought the anaesthetic, she was barking a lot, and eventually the vet called me through to cuddle her on the floor so she would relax and let the anaesthesia take hold.
They found compacted grass seeds deep in her ear. They flushed them out, and gave her pain meds and antibiotics.
I thought she would bounce back quickly but she hasn’t. She is obviously still in pain and yesterday we spent the day cuddling on the sofa.
The pain meds are giving her diarrhoea and she has now stopped eating and drinking.

Twiggy is Baby’s baby. She is very confused because her mum doesn’t want to play 😕
The vet said there was a chance they may not have got everything out, and to call today if she was significantly better, so that’s what I’m going to do.
In the meantime, I’m off to the shops to buy some sliced roast chicken or beef to wrap the penicillin in to see if she will take it.
Please pray for her speedy recovery ❤️🩹
